ALEDO, RIGHT NOW

What Is Biting in Aledo This Month

Aledo is acreage country, and that changes the pest mix completely. Bigger lots mean more treatable ground and higher pricing, pasture edges bring chiggers and ticks up to the mown line, and disturbed soil on the newer builds off FM 1187 makes this our worst town for fire ants after Haslet.

Acreage and Pasture Edges

A one to five acre place with a mown lawn running into unmown pasture has a pest boundary running right through it. Chiggers and ticks hold in the tall grass and move in wherever the mower stops. The practical fix is a treated buffer strip at that boundary, not treating the whole pasture, and we will tell you honestly where the useful line is.

The Newer Builds off FM 1187 and Bailey Ranch

Newer Aledo construction sits on freshly disturbed soil, and fire ants find that before anything else does. These yards also get young St. Augustine and Bermuda that has not knitted in yet, which is exactly what chinch bugs and grubs go for.

ALEDO QUESTIONS

What Aledo Homeowners Ask Us

Do you charge more for acreage?

Yes, and honestly so. Pricing follows treatable area, so a two-acre Aledo place costs meaningfully more than a quarter-acre Saginaw lot. The instant quote asks for lot size for exactly this reason.

Can you treat my whole pasture?

Usually we would advise against it. Treating several acres of pasture is expensive and the pests reinvade from the next field. A treated buffer at the mown boundary gets you most of the benefit for a fraction of the cost.

Why are chiggers so much worse out here?

Tall grass, leaf litter and shade, all of which Aledo has more of than any town on our map. Chiggers overwinter in that litter, so the same properties flare up year after year unless the boundary gets treated.

We have horses and livestock. Is that a problem?

Tell us before the first visit and we will map no-spray zones around pens, water troughs and feed. We treat residential yards, not livestock areas, and we keep product well away from them.

Are you actually local or driving out from Dallas?

We are based at 13181 Harmon Road in north Fort Worth, about half an hour from you. Not a franchise routing a truck from another metro.
