What Is Biting in Aledo This Month
Aledo is building fast. Thousands of new homes are going in around Old Annetta Road, FM 1187 and Bailey Ranch, and freshly graded soil is exactly what fire ants colonize first. Builder-installed St. Augustine and young Bermuda is what chinch bugs and grubs go for, which makes the new Aledo sections some of the heaviest fire ant ground we work. The older places out toward the county line have their own mix, mostly chiggers and ticks at the boundary.
The New Subdivisions
Most of Aledo’s growth is standard subdivision lots, and they behave like every other new build in North Texas: graded soil, young turf, and fire ants before anything else. A quarter-acre Aledo lot prices the same as a quarter-acre lot anywhere else we work, because the number follows the square footage of the house and the treatable area, not the county line.
Where the Lots Still Run Large
Aledo still has larger properties on the edges of town, and a mown lawn running into open ground has a pest boundary running right through it. Chiggers and ticks hold in the tall grass and move in wherever the mower stops. The fix is a treated buffer strip at that boundary rather than treating the whole field, and we will tell you honestly where the useful line sits.
