Why chiggers are the standing complaint on Annetta acreage
Because nearly every yard out here ends at pasture, hay ground or brush, which is precisely the habitat a chigger larva needs. The grass stands tall enough to climb, the ground beneath it stays shaded and damp, and the thatch and litter hold the next generation through the cold. A house set well back on acreage has that boundary running most of the way around it instead of along one back fence.
The bite pattern confirms it without a magnifying glass. Chiggers climb a leg until fabric stops them and feed where it presses, leaving a ring of welts at the sock line and waistband a few hours after a walk along the property line. Scattered bites on bare arms in the open are mosquitoes, and a tick you will usually find still attached.

What an Annetta place pays for chigger coverage
Most houses in Annetta land in the top half of the table, because the price follows the square footage of the home. Complete Home & Lawn Defense, the plan that treats the full lawn, runs $51.50 to $62 a month from 3,000 to 4,500 square feet and $62 to $73.50 from 4,500 to 6,000, with anything larger quoted after somebody has walked it. That is the plan chiggers call for, since the trouble sits at the far edge of the maintained yard.
Home Defender at $30 to $54 a month treats 25 feet out from the walls, and on acreage that ring rarely reaches the pasture boundary where the larvae are. What chigger treatment will not do for an Annetta property
It will not clear the pasture, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. Treating open acreage costs a great deal, thins out within weeks as larvae move back in from the next field, and leaves you paying for ground nobody walks on. The maintained yard plus a treated band at the boundary is what we sign up for.
Nor can it fix a boundary nobody cuts. If the grass on your side is knee high when the technician arrives, product lands on the tops of the stems and the larvae at the base go untouched, so mowing has to come first. The same goes for a woodpile or brush pile shoved against the yard, which holds damp and litter and reseeds the edge all summer.
Chiggers are also not the only thing biting on an Annetta place. Ticks live in that identical tall grass, and if what you are pulling off yourself and the dog is ticks rather than a ring of welts, the flea and tick program is the one built for it. Worth being certain before buying either.
HABITAT WORK OR PRODUCT

The free move is habitat. Keep the boundary strip cut low, pull woodpiles back from the yard and rake litter out from under the trees near the house, and on a large lot that alone drops the bite count noticeably, because you have removed shade and moisture rather than killed anything. Sulfur dust repels for a few days and costs little, though covering a long pasture edge with it after every rain gets old quickly.
Product does the part a mower cannot, which is kill the larvae already established in the yard you actually use. It goes across the whole lawn with the heaviest pass along the boundary, plus a three-foot band at each door so nothing rides in on socks. Run both on an Annetta property and the mowing shrinks the habitat while the treatment clears what is left standing in it.

Mapping the edge
Before any product comes off the truck the technician walks the line where mowing meets pasture or brush, since on an Annetta lot that is the source and the open lawn mostly is not. The widest, shadiest stretch of that edge takes the heaviest application.
Pens, troughs and outbuildings
Livestock areas are marked no-spray on that first walk, so point out where the horses, feed and water sit. Barns, shops and stacked wood get a look as well, mostly for what else shelters in them, and you will hear which ones matter.
The foundation, either way
Each door gets its treated band, and the weep holes along the brick get Delta Dust and copper mesh as part of the plan. Sealing them permanently is included rather than quoted as an extra, which is not how most outfits in this market handle it.
