Is a Pest Control Plan Actually Worth It?

Sometimes no. Here is the honest test for whether a year-round plan makes sense for your house, and when we will tell you it does not.

A recurring plan is worth it when you have ongoing pressure rather than a one-time event: an older home with unsealed entry points, a yard with real mosquito or fire ant activity, or a household where somebody reacts badly to bites. For a single isolated problem, a year-round plan is more than you need, and we will say so.

When a plan genuinely pays

  • An older brick home with original weep holes and recurring ant, spider or scorpion activity
  • A shaded, heavily landscaped yard that produces mosquitoes every summer
  • A newer subdivision with persistent fire ant pressure
  • Pets, and therefore an ongoing flea and tick exposure
  • Anyone in the household with a sting allergy or a strong reaction to bites

When it does not

You saw a few ants in the kitchen once. You have one wasp nest. You want the yard treated before a single event. We do not sell one-time treatments, because a single visit fixes today and nothing after it. For jobs like those we are not the right answer, and we would rather tell you than sell you a plan you end up resenting.

What you are actually buying

Both year-round plans bill monthly and cover four scheduled visits a year, with retreatments between visits included because the service is 100% warrantied between treatments. Spread across a year that is meaningfully cheaper per visit than calling somebody out every time something appears, and it is the difference between fixing a problem once and managing it forever.

The honest middle ground

If you are not sure, start with the plan that matches the problem rather than the biggest one. Home Defender covers the house, the eaves and about 25 feet out. Complete Home Defense adds the entire yard. Neither is a contract, so if it turns out you did not need it, you stop.
