Protect Your Pets and Kids From Fleas and Ticks

Treating the pet without treating the yard leaves the flea population outside waiting. Monthly whole-lawn treatments from May through October, combined with a shorter mow height in shaded zones, is what actually breaks the cycle.

Fleas and ticks do not live on your dog. They live in your yard and they visit your dog. That is why the vet keeps prescribing and the problem keeps coming back.

Where they actually live

Shade, leaf litter, and tall grass along fence lines and under decks. Fleas need humidity, so the sunny middle of your lawn is nearly always clear while the shady edges are loaded.

What you can do this weekend

Mow the shaded strips shorter, rake out leaf litter along fences, and cut back anything that keeps the ground damp. Keep pets off the worst zones until they are treated.
